Our Doctors
Eye care professionals specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision – many of which do not have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses including eyeglasses and contacts.
Our optometrists take the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.

His strong interest in science and health and fascination with the eyes and vision led him to a career in optometry. He loves working with people and the smiles and occasional hugs he gets from his patients.
Dr. VanOtteren has been married for almost 27 years and has two daughters and a dog. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, boating, gardening, and following University of Michigan sports. His community interests include helping those less fortunate through supporting the Lions club and working with the elderly.
Michael Curcione, O.D.
Dr. Michael Curcione grew up Windsor, Ontario, Canada and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry. He has been in practice for 20 years. Dr. Curcione is a member of the Saline Area Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Cucione specialized in optometry because he really wanted to help people but medical school didn’t agree with him. He decided on optometry because it gave me the flexibility to not only do what he enjoys but still have time to do fun things with his family.
His favorite patient story from early in his career after graduation involves an elderly man who came to him complaining of a very sudden decrease in vision. Upon dilation he noticed he had extensive retinopathy. Dr. Curcione asked him to go to the pharmacy to get his blood pressure checked. When he came back he said it was 223/121. The doctor immediately instructed the man’s wife to get him to the ER. Two weeks later the man came to the office to thank the doctor personally because the ER doctor said “if it hadn’t been for the Optometrist you would have died any minute.” The man was extremely grateful.
Dr Curcione has a wife, Christina, who also is an Optometrist, and two children, Claudia and Anthony. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf and basketball and traveling with his family.
